Questions

Answers to common questions

Can I get rid of pests myself, or do I need a pro?

Sometimes you can. A few ants on the counter often give up after store-bought bait. But if pests keep coming back, or you spot signs inside walls or the basement, DIY gets tricky. Sprays can scatter pests and hide the real source. A provider in our network can find the entry points and suggest a plan. Ask first, then act, so you do not waste a season.

What happens during a first pest control visit?

Expect a calm, simple visit. The provider usually starts with questions. Where did you see the pests? When did it start? Then they check the basement, foundation, attic, kitchen and outside walls. They explain what they found, offer a plan and give a written quote. Treatment may happen that visit or be scheduled later. You can ask about products, pets, and kids. Good providers love questions, especially from first-timers.

Will homeowners insurance pay for pest problems?

Often it does not. Many policies treat pests as a maintenance issue, especially slow damage from termites or rodents. Some policies may cover sudden damage, so check your policy or ask your agent. Providers can often help document damage with notes and photos for a claim. Medallike Pest Control cannot say what your policy covers, because that depends on your insurer and your wording.

How quickly can a provider come out?

It depends on the provider, the season and the pest. Many providers can respond quickly, but availability changes from week to week. Send an estimate request and tell us what you are seeing. You can also Request a callback to check provider availability. Mention anything urgent, like rodents in the kitchen or a wasp nest by the door.

How much does pest control usually cost?

Costs vary by pest, home size and how bad things are. As a rough U.S. range, a general pest visit often runs about $100 to $300. Termite treatment can run from several hundred to a few thousand dollars. Those are only typical ranges. Always ask for a written quote that lists what is included before you say yes.

Are termites a worry in an older home with a stone foundation?

They can be. Older homes often have cracks, wood near the ground and damp basements, and termites like all three. Freeze-thaw cycles and spring snowmelt can add moisture around the foundation. Mud tubes, soft wood or discarded wings are common clues. Do not poke around and disturb them. Request an estimate and let a provider inspect it.

Does Medallike Pest Control do the pest treatment?

No. Medallike Pest Control is a referral service. We do not treat homes, set traps or visit your property. Independent providers in our network do the work, and they set their own prices, schedules and methods. Our part is simple. You tell us what is going on, and we help connect you with a local provider who may be able to help.

Can providers help with bed bugs, rodents or wildlife?

Many can. Some providers in our network handle bed bug treatment, mice and rats, and wildlife removal such as squirrels or raccoons in the attic. Others focus on ants, spiders and roaches. Services differ by provider. Name your problem in the estimate form, and mention if animals are inside the walls. That helps match you with the right kind of help.
